Tribal Partnerships
A Community Forest succeeds through the support of many partners. Tribal partners are an integral part of Community Forests across the Pacific NW region. The Indigenous Knowledge, including the Traditional Ecological Knowledge, of our Tribal partners helps to guide and inform our shared goals of healthy forests, habitats, and water, and those relationships to people. Watch the video below to better understand the connection between three community forests in the region and the Native Tribes that have lived on the land since time immemorial.
The sites featured in this video are the Indian Creek, Nisqually, and Stewart Mountain Community Forests.
These shared forests are the ancestral lands of many Tribes. The management of each of these forests prioritizes the knowledge, experience, and traditions from the Tribes to ensure the success of the Community Forests. These experiences and partnerships are an example of the numerous, highly impactful and important relationships between Community Forests and Tribes.
This video project was supported in full from the partnership and financial assistance by the United States Forest Service through the Community Forest & Open Space Conservation Program. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
