The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service administers the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program. This is a competitive grant program whereby local governments, qualified nonprofit organizations, and Indian tribes are eligible to apply for grants to establish community forests through fee simple acquisition of private forest land from a willing seller. The Northwest Community Forest Coalition is hosting an informational webinar to provide prospective applicants with information regarding the program and advice from community leaders in the Pacific Northwest that have successfully secured funding through the program.
